This is kind of a collection of like three posts in one. Kinda long.
So I was sitting down at New Broleans. Bored, wondering what to do. Then GZE pops into my head, and I open my blog..
Ah, GZE. It started out as an attempt at revenge. On Inferno. For just randomly taking my status as a webmaster for GZU, and telling me it was because I had bad spelling. At the time, he was working on renaming GZU to GZE. And of course I had wanted to try to run a clan, and my own website. I had started on this before with www.someclanforums.com.. unfortunatley charging $300 to my grandpa’s credit card didn’t turn out well. Anyway, so I went looking for a website hosting service.. thing… whatever they’re called. And I found GoDaddy. And I had the money at the time…. and then (my) GZE was born. I still remember the excitement as I shut down my computer, getting ready to go to bed.. knowing I’d have my own website the next day. And the next day came. And of course, there was my website. I immediatley got to work on an index. Had a few problems in the beginning, but they were all my fault. And within a week, I had a copy of IntegraMOD running. Of course, it was a real clan…. but its members didn’t really care. I tried and tried to make it active. I had a teamspeak server, GMod server, SHOUTcast server, even the idea of an IRC server popped into my head a few times. But back then I was a newb at IRC. I had just barely conquered Chanserv on GameSurge. But I tried. Anyway, I put so much love and care into it.. and nobody cared. And that’s what led to its death. When I met Benie, and he refused to just sign up on the forums.. I think that’s when I began considering killing it. What made me finally kill it was when I tried getting some awesome into the index. I installed a copy of Joomla!, but it failed horribly. I tried another CMS, but I don’t remember what it was ATM. When that failed, and I saw that nobody even acknowledged the fact that I was trying to improve it.. I edited the index giving a goodbye message, and set the password in the Integramod config to a bogus one. I remember.. quite well.. I was standing up at Sanctum. Talking with nieb15. He wanted me to enable the forums, to have a quick look around. I allowed him to do so, and just stared into the field of grape bushes that Sanctum had. And the feeling of that excitement I got when I first registered it came back. But it didn’t work. I eventually deleted the hosting for GZE, and it became just a domain in my possession. It’s still in my possession. But only until March. March third, I believe. Sad it must die on its second birthday. Reminds me of GATM.
Heh.. In thinking about all this.. Not once did the GZESN or GZUSN pop into my head. What was the GZESN or GZUSN, you may ask? Well. If you’ve read my Steam community profile, at the bottom you’ll see “Also, I’m obsessed with servers.” Well, I’m also obsessed with mass numbers of servers. Server networks, to be exact. Well, anyway. When I was in GZU, Inferno ran some game servers. This idea popped into my head one day to make a little server network for them. Then the method of naming them came.. and I made a little web page for it on my subdomain. I can still remember how funny the naming system seemed to me when I first thought of it.. GZUSN|TheGameItsRunning|Server#forThisGame was what I had thought up. And so I launched a listen server with GZUSN|GMod|#1 as the hostname on GMod, and then it didn’t seem funny. It seemed pretty.. professional! :D And then Inferno kicked me out. And GZE came along. And then you know what? Well I decided to carry the idea over. GZESN. Sounds catchy to me for some reason. Anyway, then I made a blog to go with it. And that’s how this blog got started. I made a little blog to update my (uncaring) clan members of what was happening with the GZESN. Then I realized “Lol, nobody wants to run a server for me, and let me put my and my clan’s name all over it for nothing more than a ‘Thanks!’ Lol. Bye GZESN.” and around the same time, I heard an interesting song on youtube. DJ Kosmonova was the artist, I remember that much. Anyway, I made a post with a link to that video.. and a statement that the GZESN was dead, and it wasn’t gonna come back unless people (What people?!!) whined at me because of it. (Yeah.. the only way that would happen is if I whined at myself. :| ) Anyway, so yeah. I had a blog. AAaaannd I think I’m done thinking about GZE.
And now for the other stuffs for this post. Oh, also. Yay, first post of 2009. Seems like I made the first of ’08 not that long ago. Oh well, anyway. Wurm.
Things are going good as usual at the Bay. I saw Letac earlier today. Well, yesterday. Ben has moved into what used to be Anaysoan Point. And it’s a Wurmian life as usual I guess. Anyway. I got Ctrlaltdelete converted to Vynora. I’m headed back to the Bay as I’m typing this, planning to get him a Vynora altar. Hopefully raising his faith won’t take too long. Anyway, once he gets to 30, I’ll buy ‘em some prem time, and take him to the Wild server with Ben (Who was there last week.) and I’ll be able to enchant tools for teh monies. :D
Benie’s Builds. What’s up with it, you may be wondering? Well, thinking about GZE the other day.. well, that made me start wondering what would happen if we turned it into a build group. (Benie’s Builders) I talked it over with Ben, and he said to go for it. So, I’m working on getting IntegraMOD setup, as well as finding a good CMS for the front page. I’ll probably use php-Nuke.
And.. ehh, I think that’s it for this post. And I thought I’d make it long. lol. Well, first post of the year, anyway. Bai bai.
