Well, I just got done cleaning my desktop. Again. It’s amazing how quickly my desktop can get cluttered. And I also just got done doing system cleaning, and am going to start a virus scan in a moment with Avast!, a nice little antivirus that goppend told me I should use. Anyway, I now have proper hard drive space back. I cleaned out old programs, the folders leftover from my last desktop cleaning, my unused Linux emulators, and did a bit of cleaning up on my Sven server. (Basically, deleted everything that wasn’t essential for the server to run like I want it to. I mean, does it really need a copy of TFC, or a copy of SiN to run? I think not.) I also reorganized my desktop, and have everything neatly assembled. On monitor two is a group of folders, containing stuff I found worthy of keeping (My writings folder, for example.) and on the bottom, in groups of two is the Source Sound and GoldSRC sound folders, containing all sounds from all Half-Life games or Source games. Quite useful when I’m building something in GMod, and need a funkeh sound to go with it. :P
On the bottom left corner is the PDF I made of all current AdminMod and AMXX commands. Above it is some files with some hints at passwords for stuff.. and also I keep the skeleton page for BeniesBuilds there. Sitting next to the Half-Life and Source sounds folders is the shortcut for the Wurm test client, and the regular client. There’s also three CMD files.. which I am working on for my Sven server. There’s also the Runescape.exe file, so I can play Runescape on monitor one without having to move IE over. (Yes, I use IE. Please don’t spam comments with “OMG YOU IEFAG! GET FIREFOX FFS!” I have Firefox. I’m working on using it instead of IE.)
On my primary monitor I have all my program and folder shortcuts. All neatly arranged in blocks. My games block, my program and folder shortcuts block, and then finally, my server block. The server block consists only of Sven and InspIRCd at the moment. Don’t really need a TS link, because TS boots automatically, and I like to keep it running 24/7.
It’s amazing how nice a clean desktop can feel. I mean, just an hour ago, my desktop was a cluttered mess, full of images, files, other shit.. it was all out of order and complete chaos. I really need to try to keep my desktop clean.. In fact, I think I’ll make that a New Year’s resolution. Keep my desktop clean. Another resolution I should make, is keep my hard drive clean.. Guh.. I was gonna write up a blogpost about it, a few weeks back. I was at 5 gb free, and I deleted some programs, and was celebrating about having 20 gb free. Well, I got down to 14 GB free, and so I decided to go on a cleaning spree today. I cleaned up.. and deleted some useless Linux installations I had.. guess what. I now have 41 gb free. Uber fucking yay? Yes. I’d have even more, if I just got rid of that useless Fedora installation.. In fact, I think I’ll go ask on a Linux channel if I can do that.. Later!
